Døgn vs Timely
Last updated: July 2026
Timely is the best-known name in AI time tracking. Its Memory tracker captures the apps, sites and documents you work in, and its AutoSheet AI drafts a finished timesheet you review with a click, learning your patterns over time. Raw captures stay on your device until you log them, and it runs across web, Mac, Windows, Android and iOS with team dashboards and a big integration ecosystem. For agencies and teams that live in timesheets, it is excellent. Døgn is the opposite trade-off: one Mac, one-time, solo, local-first and without a Døgn cloud account.
Where Timely is the better fit
- AI (AutoSheet) drafts a complete timesheet from captured activity — a genuine time-saver at scale.
- Its Memory tracker keeps raw captures on your device until you choose to log them.
- Cross-platform: web, Mac, Windows, Android and iOS, with cross-device sync.
- Strong for teams and agencies: dashboards, budgets and reporting across people.
- A large integration ecosystem — Asana, Jira, QuickBooks, Zapier and more.
Where Døgn is the better fit
- Primary tracking data stays on one Mac by default — no Døgn cloud account or telemetry.
- Automatic tracking specialized for AI coding sessions, with on-device summaries as the entry description.
- A one-time purchase rather than a per-user subscription.
- Built around billable work — clients, projects and rates — plus local KveikGraph sync to the living invoice draft owned by tjent.
- Fits the kveik suite: folo hands finished meetings to Døgn as billable time.

The short version

Questions, answered
Is Døgn’s AI like Timely’s?
They aim at different jobs. Timely’s AI drafts a full timesheet from everything you touched across apps; Døgn’s AI specifically summarizes each AI coding session into a billable entry description. Timely is cloud and team-oriented; Døgn is local and solo.
Does Døgn keep my data local like I might expect?
Døgn stores primary tracking data on one Mac by default and has no Døgn cloud account; configured webhooks and MCP clients are explicit boundaries. Timely captures locally too, but you log time to a cloud account so it can build team timesheets and reports; if you do not want that cloud account, Døgn is the better fit.
