Clients & projects

Before you track time, you set up your clients and projects. They decide who your time is attributed to and which hourly rate Døgn uses to compute earnings. You do this under „Settings → Clients & Projects".

The client tree

The „Clients & Projects" tab has two columns: on the left the tree of clients and their projects, on the right the editor for the current selection. The „Search clients…" field filters when the list grows long. „Add Client" creates a new client; „+ Project" adds a project under the selected client. Juggling many clients at once? Add a client

In the editor on the right you set:

• „Name" — the client's name.
• „Hourly rate" — the per-hour rate Døgn uses to compute earnings.
• „Currency" — the client's billing currency.
• „Rounding increment" and „Rounding mode" — how tracked minutes are rounded (see below).
• „Color" — the color in which the client and its projects appear in the timeline and lists.

„Save" commits your changes; an „Unsaved" hint flags pending edits.

Projects and hourly rates

A project always belongs to a client. In the project editor you set „Name", an optional description and its own „Hourly rate" — leave it blank and the client's rate applies. Under „Billing", „Billable by default" decides whether new entries of this project are billable, and you can optionally choose the project's own „Rounding increment" and „Mode".

Rounding modes

Døgn can round tracked time to common increments. The modes are „Round up", „Round down" and „Round to nearest" (commercial rounding), plus inheriting the increment from the client or the global default. The raw captured time always stays unchanged; only the billed view is rounded, and the billed amount is based on the rounded time.

Removing clients & projects

Far-reaching: deleting a client also removes all of its projects and time entries. Removed clients and projects first move to „Data → Archived Items", from where „Delete Forever" removes them permanently.
