MCP & AI tools

Last updated: July 2026

Døgn connects to AI tools — both as a controllable MCP server and as an automatic time tracker for AI coding sessions. Døgn serves MCP locally; the connected client can read suite data, and its own network and privacy behavior applies.

The MCP server

Under „Settings → MCP" you enable a local MCP server for the kveik suite: connected clients can search your meetings and projects and control Døgn timers. Døgn serves the data locally; the connected client's own network and privacy behavior applies. Via „Connect a client" you add the server to supported clients — among them Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code and Windsurf. After adding it, restart the client once so it picks up the new server.

Automatic tracking for AI sessions

The „AI Tools" tab automatically tracks the time AI agents spend on your projects: „Døgn detects Claude Code sessions automatically via hooks in your ~/.claude folder." When you enable it, you pick the folder once; then Døgn writes the hook script. Supported are „Claude Code", „Codex" and „Antigravity". Per tool, „Auto-stop when idle" sets how long a pause is before the timer stops on its own. Working in an AI editor instead? See time tracking in VS Code, Windsurf and Zed.

Assigning projects

So that a tracked session lands on the right project, you set the mapping up once per repository: tell Claude or Codex in your project folder „Set up Døgn time tracking." That creates a .dogn file that maps the folder to the matching Døgn project. After that, Døgn recognizes the project from the working directory on its own.
